Nominations
Norman Samuels’ Award for Outstanding Service
to Students
Purpose: The purpose of this prestigious award
is to recognize and encourage truly outstanding service to students.
The recipient gives unselfishly of his/her time and attention
to aid students and to demonstrate that our diverse student
body is our first priority and that the knowledge, resources,
and dedication to assist our students in their educational career
is an important goal.
Criteria: The Recipient must have had a substantial
positive impact on a student or group of students within the
past academic year. The service provided to students has been
the core of their workplace values and their actions and deeds
are in the best interest of the student population.
Eligibility: The recipients must have been
employed at the University since July 1, 2007, and in their
current job title since December 1, 2007. Furthermore, recipients
must be within the given job-ranges as specified by the award
titles. Employees who have been the recipient of an award in
2006 or 2007 are not eligible for an award in 2008.
Secretary of the Year Award
Purpose: To promote the employee who contributes
to quality outcomes through their attitudes and actions. This
award program supports staff empowerment, seeks to identify
and acknowledge performance excellence, and enhances our awareness
of the diversity of efforts from our colleagues.
Criteria: The Recipient must have the word
“secretary” in their job title and have had a substantial positive
impact on a department and/or organization within the past academic
year and demonstrated consistent dedication to the departmental
and University goals through dependability, accountability,
and the determination to succeed and improve. The Recipient
will demonstrate excellent skills in his/her given field, will
be creative and show adaptability and flexibility and be a role
model for others.
Eligibility: The recipients must have been
employed at the University since July 1, 2007, and in their
current job title since December 1, 2007. Furthermore, recipients
must be within the given job-ranges as specified by the award
titles. Employees who have been the recipient of an award in
2006 or 2007 are not eligible for an award in 2008.
All Nominations: The nomination should include
specific examples of the employee's accomplishments as they
relate to the employee’s accomplishments and/or student services.
Students, faculty, staff and any university constituent may
submit nominations.
Awards: Award recipients will receive a plaque
and a $200.00 cash award.
Award Committees: Will be comprised of five
university employees who will review and assess each nominee’s
achievements and contributions to our campus community.
Staff Excellence Award
Purpose: For staff members who contribute
to quality outcomes through their attitudes and actions. This
award program supports staff empowerment, seeks to identify
and acknowledge performance excellence, and enhances our awareness
of the diversity of efforts from our colleagues.
Awards may be given in up to five seperate categories:
Clerical, Laboratory, and Technical Employee, Physical Plant/Security,Police, aligned administrative staff, and non-aligned managers, supervisors, professionals and confidential employees.
Criteria: The Recipient must have had a substantial
positive impact on a department and/or organization within the
past academic year and demonstrates consistent dedication to
the departmental and University goals through dependability,
accountability, and the determination to succeed and improve.
The Recipient will demonstrate excellent skills in his/her given
field, will be creative and show adaptability and flexibility
and be a role model for others.
