FY 2008–2009 Pay-for-Performance Program and Staff Compensation Program
The FY 2008–2009 Pay-for-Performance Program (P4P) for Managerial, Professional, Supervisory, and Confidential (MPSC) non-aligned staff employees has been announced. P4P information and guidelines for deans, managers, and department heads is now available on the UHR website. Click here to access resources for staff employees eligible for P4P.
Employees represented by URA-AFT are eligible for the Staff Compensation Program (SCP). Information for deans, managers, and department heads is accessible via the UHR website. Click here for general SCP information for eligible staff employees. Additional information about the Staff Compensation Program is located under Article 38 of the URA-AFT agreement.
The P4P and SCP compensation programs will run concurrently this spring. |
State Health Benefits Medical Plan Changes
Effective April 1, 2008, the New Jersey State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) will no longer offer the Traditional and NJ PLUS plans. Two types of medical plans will be available: a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs). The SHBP has awarded the PPO contract to Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and HMO contracts to Aetna and CIGNA.

Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9)
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services released a revised Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) on November 7, 2007. The previous form is no longer acceptable.

New Collective Bargaining Agreements
The Office of Labor Relations has been conducting negotiations for collective agreements with the various unions that represent many staff employees at the university. An agreement from July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2009, has been executed with the Fraternal Order of Police–Primary Unit, and an agreement from July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2011, has been executed with AFSCME Local 888. Both contracts are published on UHR’s Labor Agreements webpage. Agreements have also been ratified with AFSCME Local 1761, the International Union of Operating Engineers, and the Rutgers Council of AAUP EOF Bargaining Unit. Once finalized, those agreements will also be available on the UHR website. For your reference, UHR also maintains Archived Staff Labor Agreements, which contains prior collective agreements.

Vacation for Staff Members Policy - 60.3.10
As was stated in the October 2005 announcement, employees currently carrying over more than 25 vacation days have until June 30, 2008, to use their excess days before forfeiting them. This policy will be monitored via the Absence Reporting System, which is accessible universitywide.

Employee Discounts
A variety of additional discounts are available to Rutgers employees. Faculty and staff are eligible for discounted rates on computers and software through Apple. W.B. Mason offers a discount on products such as cameras, office furniture, and ink cartridges. Employees can also receive discounted prices on tickets for performances held at the State Theatre in New Brunswick and Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton. USA Financial Services will make a $300 donation to the Rutgers Foundation if a purchase, refinance, or reverse mortgage loan is closed by an employee. The program also offers a discounted mortgage rate and no direct lender fees. Several campus bookstores offers employee and departmental discounts as well.
