Safe Zone 101 Training

SafeZone is an educational program committed to increasing understanding and awareness around how to foster an inclusive and welcoming climate for the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning) community.

MAJOR TOPICS
Encourage active allyship.
Increase knowledge about to LGBTQ and intersectional history.
Increase comfort level with the LGBT community and speaking out against homophobic language, biased incidents against LTBTQ community.
Be able to identify and respond to behavior and language that is offensive and exclusionary to the LGBTQ community.
Increase overall awareness and understanding of LGBTQ issues to promote greater sense of safety at Rutgers community.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
SafeZone is open for all Faculty/Staff.

The first section is an introduction to the LGBTQ community and current events. The second section is focused on becoming an Ally, supporting our students and how this information is applicable to you, your department, organization or day to day life.
